FAQs

for Studio Sessions

  • Before the session we will have a discovery call to learn more about you, your needs, and vision. Are you looking for something traditional, more dramatic, or more commercial? The more we plan ahead of time, the smoother the shoot will go. Having a specific idea of what you need before you come in will help us get the most out of our time together.

During the session, we will choose the outfit and background combos that work best. We will guide and coach you with different poses and expressions. Different lighting setups may also be used. Shooting tethered to a computer allows us to review our shots in real time and make adjustment, as needed.

After the session you can immediately select your favorite image(s) to be retouched. We offer online galleries as well for this purpose. Ideally, you should be ready to choose your image(s) the day of your session.

  • Yes, for business headshots only. If you and others want separate headshots for yourselves, you can add people to your session for an additional $100 each.

Please inquire about our group rates if you have 4 or more people. The more people you have, the larger the savings.

  • We are able to use both. Shots in the studio will be using strobe lights or continuous LED lighting. If we shoot any outdoors, we may use only natural light or combine it with portable strobes. We’re not opposed to either way as long as it best supports what we’re going for.

  • We have a variety of fabric and paper background choices in our studio in various styles and colors. You can simply choose from our selection of backgrounds when you arrive, or we can pick the best one for you based on your wardrobe choices. Creating great color harmony is going to make your headshot stand out even more.

  • For business headshots, most people wear a darker colored jacket and light shirt underneath. Consider bringing options for variety.

Men: Don't over or underdress for your market. Business casual for some industries is more appropriate than a full suit and tie.

Women: can wear dresses or anything professional. A blouse tends to look more current and clean if it has no collar.

For Actors: A wardrobe guide will be emailed to you after you have booked your session. Choices should support your casting types or character roles you can play.

  • No, not at this time. You will need to arrive camera ready or bring a hair/makeup artist with you.

On-Camera makeup is different from everyday makeup, so choose wisely.

  • “Looks” are defined by an outfit change, different background, lighting variation, and/or change in makeup/hair.

  • 40 to 60. Sometimes more, time permitting.

  • No, in most cases you need headshots first to get an agent. Professional headshots show agencies that your are serious, invested, and ready for auditions.

  • We guarantee the final, retouched images will be available in a private online gallery within a week after your final selection. Though most often, we deliver photos in 3 to 5 days, if not sooner.

You will have access to the gallery for a period of 1 month, which should allow plenty of time for downloading or sharing.

  • If time allows for you to pick the photos right after the shoot, we will do our best to have your retouched images completed within 24 hours.

Please call in advance and advise if in a hurry. (714) 307-3551.

  • We accept cash, credit cards, debit cards, and e-transfers (Zelle, Venmo) as payment options. No checks, please.

Any open balance due must be paid by end of our session. If additional images are ordered after the session, we will bill you separately and you can pay online from the invoice.

  • Individual sessions require a non-refundable $75 retainer to confirm your booking. So please be sure that you want to shoot before you book your session. Also, you can apply the deposit to a rescheduled appointment (one time only).

  • Please call, text, or email to let us know within 48 hours of the session so we can make changes to your appointment and hopefully book another session in it’s place. If, for some reason, you are unable to give us the advanced notice we need, we are happy to reschedule your appointment at no additional charge. Any deposit paid will apply to the rescheduled session. But any additional rescheduling will incurr a $50 charge each time to cover our administrative costs. Deposits/retainers will not be refunded on cancelled sessions that are not rescheduled.

  • Yes. Retouched Images in addition to those that come with your package are $40 per photo.

  • Not at the moment, but we are currently looking into using Afterpay, Klarna, or Affirm for the remaining balance due after you’ve paid your deposit.
